Los Herederos Del Monte (Monte's Heir) is a Spanish-language telenovela to be produced by the United States-based television network Telemundo. It is a remake of Chilean telenovela Hijos del Monte produced by TVN in 2008.

Telemundo scheduled to air this series for fall 2010-2011 season and will likely air the serial from Monday to Friday over about 26 weeks. As with most of its other telenovelas, the network broadcasts English subtitles as closed captions on CC3.

Plot

Five adopted brothers that will see how their easy going life in the countryside will be changed by the death of their father, who gives part of his land to his only biological daughter, who comes to claim what belongs to her, “Paula”. She will be the woman who will begin to interfere between the brothers, that will begin to feel attracted to her.

Telenovela actor Mario Cimarro will star in Telemundo’s “Los herederos del monte.”

Telemundo selected Cimarro to be the protagonist of the new telenovela, according to EnelBrasero.com. This will be a reunion, of sorts, for Cimarro and the telenovela's female lead, Marlene Fabela, who starred together in "Gata salvaje."

The gossip web site reports how the new project is inspired by a Chilean production called “Hijos del monte.”

Cimarro has starred in other productions such as the popular Colombian novela "Pasión de gavilanes" and "El

cuerpo del deseo."

SYNOPSIS
This story is of five brothers: John, Joseph, Peter, Lucas and Gaspar, who are responsible for working and maintaining the del Monte ranch lands for decades. When their father Don Emilio del Monte arrived to build his ranch he turned it into the most important and prosperous in the area. Now years later upon the death of their adoptive father they are in line to inherit his respected legacy and carry on maintaining what they also contributed to helping to build. But a woman, Paula, who knows of these five children, arrives the same day of the reading of the will and to the surprise of the others, for the same purpose.
Accompanied by Modesto, the eternally faithful servant of the family, the brothers are preparing to read the will that was left by their recently deceased father. What they never thought, on such a sad day in their lives is that it will mark a final break from all they have known to be true and the beginning of a new story that they will all be irretrievably trapped into. When the lawyer is about to read the will and show a video with the last words of Don Emilio del Monte, Paula del Monte appears. She is the only biological child of del Monte and she has not just come to receive her share of the inheritance, but also to revolutionize the days of these men, and to establish in their mist a most coveted place of equality and acceptance.
Since her arrival, every day life on the ranch will never be the same. Paula is ready to do anything to shake down the roof upon their heads. She wants back what she feels she was denied yet deserved. That being a great motivator for her strong resentment at being ignored by her paternal family, she therefore has plans already underway and each of the brothers will serve to realize them. What Paula del Monte expected was that in this place with all its majesty, a place she always yearned to be reigning in full equality, would also be a place she finds the eternal love that will forever change her goals. For the first time in her life she can not control her feelings, much less her emotions when it comes to the strong attractive man who stands in her way, a man she was not prepared to deal with. CHARACTERS

Juan del Monte (Mario Cimarro)
He is the oldest of the five del Monte brothers. A man of his word, a well respected man with moral standings also a very attractive man, a friendly natured person but with the strength of character and ability to command. A lovely man…a just man. Since childhood, when he reached his new home from Punta Arenas, he became a reflection of Emilio del Monte, his adopted father, who always taught him to take charge of the most important responsibilities of the ranch and farms. So he became an agronomist and now intends to keep the legacy of the patriarch. For years he has maintained a stable relationship with Julieta Millán who has become his fiancé. With the revelation of the existence of this biological daughter of del Monte suddenly his life is radically changed. The day was allegedly to commit to his girlfriend of the past 10 years, but will Paula del Monte’s appearance set into motion a different outcome. The attraction between the two is nothing short of explosive. Paula del Monte (Marlene Favela)
Paula is the only biological daughter of Emilio del Monte. Conceived in an extra-marital affair and denied standing by her father, she as the only woman in the Del Monte clan grew up with a despairing loneliness from parental neglect which turned her into a cold, calculating, and obsessive person. Nothing stops her until she has reach her goal, and she does not know the meaning of the word ‘fear‘. though she has her flaws she also has a sparkling personality and possesses sheer beauty which has captivated all who know her. This particularly happened while transforming into an economist. But she has never allowed herself to love. The resentment and the lack of being with familia has brought her to now come put things into place and nothing will stop her. Her arrival in La Rinconada del Monte will cause the most angry reactions as well as unleash the most powerful passions. When she has the slightest suspicion that he has fallen for Juan, her convictions will be shattered and her objectives of revenge take a course that she never thought. Thus, plans will crumble, starting a fight in which love, money and ambition becomes entangled, …. the heirs want to keep all the assets of Del Monte.

Jose del Monte (Jose Luis Resendez)
Jose del Monte is a man who is imposing on the premises. He is the foreman of the field, a retiring type, yet comprehensively ambitious. Although he is a grateful for the opportunity he was given to have a family, he struggles with the memory of his early years that were spent in an orphanage. This in turn has caused some resentment that he tries to hide. His eyes betray him as his silence will not…. but above all he has a lifelong rivalry with John, his older brother for whom he feels a strange mixture of love-hate. One of his strengths is his attractive appeal…he knows that he can have his choice of women. However, the secret and tempestuous romance with Beatrice (Efraín Mardones wife) will bring him harsh consequences that will put him in check and will bring to light his most fearsome side.

Pedro del Monte (Ezekiel Montalt)
Of the five brothers Pedro Del Monte is the playboy, charismatic, encouraging the parties and who constantly struggles to maintain unity among the brothers. It’s his responsible for the mechanical workshop of the field and as a child was abandoned because he was conceived in an extra-marital affair of an upper-class women in Santiago. Gaspar del Monte (Fabián Ríos)
The fourth son of Del Monte from the north, he is in charge of the dairy laboratory, and is at his best when taming the horses and racing them. Was of the five boys the one closest to their mother. So far his greatest role model is John, whom he admires and respects. Passionate about the ranch, is coupled to sing along with Johnny, Amador and Guadeloupe. Modesto Mardones (Roberto Mateos)
Modesto has always been the faithful steward of the family. Ephraim's father and brother to Eleuterio, who has not spoken for years, has been a real father to the five brothers Del Monte. To them he has devoted his life organizing the daily disasters of the clan, especially after the death of Don Emilio. Mario Cimarro has denied rumors that he has acted unprofessionally while shooting the telenovela Los Herederos del Monte.

The actor has made it to the headlines after Tvynovelas published a story accusing the Cuban actor of refusing to shoot a scene which involves him being slapped by his co-protagonist Marlene Favela. According to the online article, he refused because it would cause his character to appear weak.

The actor, in an interview with Terra, cleared the issue. According to the actor, indeed he refused to shoot the scene because in his opinion, it was not as was portrayed in the novel. He said that he had read the original novel and so he shared his opinion with the director that the slapping was contrary to the story in the novel . Mario Cimarro said that the director obviously saw his his point of view and so he did not shoot the scene as originally planned.

Morevoer, Mario Cimarro said, that he enjoys the support of the Producer of the Telenovela as well as the Vice President of Entertainment of Telemundo. The two have given him the right to have a say in things pertinent to the telenovela.

La Traición (Betrayed) is a Colombian telenovela co-produced by United States-based Telemundo and RTI Colombia. Telemundo debuted this serial on January 29, 2008, replacing Madre Luna. This show is also known as Betrayed
